KIGALI

Land of unique sensations and aligned with nature…

Kigali or Quigali is the capital and largest city in Rwanda. Its population is estimated at 1,132,686 inhabitants (2012). It is located in the center of the country, in a Christian between two valleys, being known for its vegetation.

Founded in 1907 under German colonial rule, it became Rwanda's capital after independence in 1962.

It is an amazing, wooded, clean and organized city. But the trail up the mountain in the Volcanoes National Park, in the middle of Rwanda's rainforest, is what will fill your eyes. The reserve is in a mountain range formed by six dormant volcanoes and two active ones. It is necessary to take a hike to the base of the Sabyinyo volcano, 2,500 meters above sea level, only then to reach a few meters from the giant monkeys.

Rwanda's big star is its greatest natural asset: gorillas. Threatened with extinction due to indiscriminate hunting, they today survive due to organized tourism in the Volcanoes National Park. The hike to admire them in their habitat is a rare and unique experience.
